Antichrist: A Devotional Study on Daniel: Chapters 7-12
Game of thrones; Rise and fall of empires; Angels and demons; Christ and Antichrist; The Godhead and the Evil Triad; Heaven and Hell; Final Judgment. It is all here, in the latter half of the book of Daniel.
This second half of the book of Daniel happens to be the portion of the book quoted by Jesus and the apostles than any other portion of the Old Testament. Jesus’ favorite title, ‘Son of Man,’ for example, has its origins in this book. And so are his references to coming “in the clouds of heaven.” The apostle Paul also derives his description of the Antichrist as the ‘Man of Sin’ (2Th.2:3), from this book. And John picks up the same picture of the ten-horned beast (Rev.13:1-7), from this section of Daniel. Aside from its prophetic content this second half of Daniel introduces us to doctrines such as the Lord’s Second Coming, the reign of Christ and his saints, and final Judgment.
Let us then join the prophets of old in “searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when he testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow” (1Pe.1:11). The Holy Spirit is the revealer of “things to come.” He will teach us and open up mysteries to us if we are willing to learn.
