Create Your World: Harnessing the Power of God’s Word

God created the world with ‘words’ (Heb.11:3), and upholds it with words (Heb.1:3). The words he used in creating and sustaining the universe were taken from a pre-existent script put together by the divine council and approved by him before the foundation of the world. In other words, God was confessing what was written and archived in heaven for the new creation. The phrase “and God said” that preceded every one of the six days of creative activity were not impromptu but spoken in accordance with that script. The Word was ‘forever settled in heaven’ before it was implemented on earth.

But the Book in heaven has not reached it final chapters. There is still more to be done and the prayers of the people of God are needed to see God’s project to its completion. Hence we are to pray “Your will be done, on earth as in heaven” (Mt.6:10). Note here that our prayers move earth in alignment with heaven’s will and purposes and not the other way around. It is a done deal in heaven. We need to pray for insight and guidance from the Holy Spirit to see the plan and power to execute it just as it is in heaven (1Co.2:10-11).
