Beyond the Leaves: In Pursuit of the Fruitful Life
We were rescued from sin for a purpose higher than just going to church, singing praises, listening to sermons and having fellowship dinners. We were drawn out from the world in order to draw others out from the kingdom of darkness. In other words we were saved to be fruitful.
Jesus reminded his disciples, present and future, that: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you” (John 15:16).
Jesus chose us and appointed us to bear and to retain fruit for the kingdom of God. And let us not miss the importance of obedience to this command. It is linked to answered prayers. Many saints pray until blue in the face and get no answers from God simply because they miss the condition stipulated in this agreement. We bear fruit for God and when we pray God will hear and answer.
